Stateroom Rentals...a participatory adventure!

This option is ideal for those who are either short on crew, not quite ready to charter on their own, or simply prefer to let someone else be responsible for the boat.

Dinner at Roche Harbor

Building a bridge between taking courses and bareboat chartering. So you've completed your ASA 104 course but you are not quite ready to charter yet. Or maybe you are excited to charter this season but you can't quite get your crew in line this year.Or maybe you've chartered a number of times but this time you'd just like to let someone else be responsible for the boat. Well, let me introduce all of you to our stateroom rental option!

What is a stateroom rental? In short, it is a great way to go sailing! While there is a USCG Captain aboard who is ultimately in charge of the boat, you will be active crew. Everyone is expected to participate in the day to day running of the boat to the extent that their skill level allows. You may be steering, trimming sails, helping to set anchor or handling lines during docking. Everyone aboard, including the Captain, also pitches in to help with cooking and dishes.

What is it not? These are not courses. While you are encouraged to practice and build on your sailing skills, it is not an option to pursue ASA certifications during the stateroom rentals. These are also not luxury cruises with a captain, steward and chef. Active participation is an important part of making these cruises work.

Dates & Rates: Your stateroom rental rate is made of two parts. The price for the stateroom itself is the same whether you will have one person or two in the stateroom. In addition to the stateroom rental price there is a per person fee that covers food, beverages, fuel and moorage.

What boat will I be on? During 2020 most stateroom rentals will occur on one of our 3 stateroom/2 head 39' - 45' sailing monohulls. There will be two staterooms available for rent on each of the three stateroom boats, with the captain having the third stateroom. This approach leaves the salon and galley available for those that rise early or go to bed later. If demand and boat availablity warrant we may be able to use a 4 stateroom, 2 head sailing monohull (in which case 3 staterooms would be available to rent). When you reserve your stateroom please let us know if you have any special needs that might affect boat choice (eg. if you use a CPAP while sleeping or need a bimini due to sun sensitivity).

Are there any qualifications required to participate in a stateroom rental? There is no experience required to participate in the stateroom rentals as long as you have a willingness to learn and participate. Be aware that most of the 10-day and 14-day stateroom rentals will venture in to Canadian waters so a passport will be required.

I have special dietary needs. Are you able to accommodate those? We will do our absolute best to accommodate your dietary needs. Please help us do so by being specific about what you can and cannot eat, and common substitutions you use (eg. almond milk instead of dairy milk).

What about alcohol? Alcohol consumption (2 drink maximum) is allowed after you are docked or anchored for the day. Some wine/beer may be provisioned on the flotilla stateroom rentals but it will not be provided on the non-flotilla stateroom rentals. You are welcome to bring your favorite drinks along (be aware that there are quantity limitations if cruising to Canada).

How do I reserve my stateroom? Simply call or e-mail us to check availability. To confirm your stateroom rental you will pay a reservation deposit equivalent to 30% of the stateroom fee. The remaining balance will be due 45 days before the start of the trip. Both staterooms do need to be booked for a trip to be considered "a go". Final confirmation is made 45 days before the start of the trip, at the same time as balance payment.
